of New Orleans!

In Memory of James Barreca (1979-2012), a faithful member of the MCC of New Orleans

James Barreca

James Barreca
(1979-2012)

A message from Pastor Rick Sosbe:

This evening I learned of the untimely death of James Barreca and his father. Although I have not known James but for a short time, I can say his welcome, gracious, and loving spirit touched my life. James certainly had a heart and love for God, and while such a tragedy is difficult to grasp, I have a deep abiding awareness that James has entered his eternal joy and is at peace and at rest, being held in the loving arms of Christ.

The contributions James made to the realm of God and his service to God's church will continue to ripple through the faith community to touch the lives of God's people. May God bless our hearts with the memory of James Barreca, and may we find comfort in knowing that there will be some wonderful reunions one day when we too cross to the other side.

In this time of grief and sorrow, let us remember to pray for the family and friends of James and his father; that the presence, comfort, and peace of God will fill their lives in the days, weeks, months, and years to come.

In Sympathy,
Rev. Rick Sosbe, Pastor

We've Changed our Name!

You may have known our church as the Big Easy Metropolitan Community Church as recently as the opening days of 2012. The members of our congregation met on January 22, 2012 and voted to change the name to the Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans, to solidify our devotion to the beautiful and dynamic city we call home. You may continue to see references to the Big Easy MCC in social media and on the websites of other organizations that link to us for a few weeks. Our web staff is working diligently to let everyone know about the change, and the process should be complete shortly. If you know of a reference to the Big Easy MCC on another website that our web staff should be aware of, please send a message to webmaster@mccneworleans.org.
