About Our Church

Our Faith

We are a member of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community churches - a worldwide fellowship in 22 countries with 44,000 members founded by Rev Troy Perry in 1967 to proclaim God's love and redemption to those who had previously been denied a place in Christ's church. MCC has been at the forefront of transforming churches into places where all are valued and celebrated, including the LGBT community that Troy initially reached out to, and to which he belongs.

We at The Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans believe passionately that all should be celebrated and not tolerated!

Is MCC a "Gay" Church?

No, it is a Christian church that has a special mission to the LGBT community, and a prophetic message for all people. It can be all these things and more because it is telling the truth! Many churches continue to teach that there are some of God's creations on this Earth whom God does not love, but this is not true. God doesn't make junk! Too often, some churches have justified this kind of position by quoting bits of Scripture out of context while ignoring the entire life, death, message, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which stands as the ultimate statement of Christian truth, and against which no hatred can prevail.

Consequently, everyone is welcome at the Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans, regardless of sexual orientation, ethnic or linguistic background, or theological beliefs. The MCC does not require its members to conform strictly to any specific code of beliefs, although ethically we stand by a commitment to be a place where judgment and disapproval are echoes from outside, whereas inside love and celebration are cultivated in the context of prayer and spiritual development.

The Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans is located at 1333 South Carrollton Avenue in the beautiful Riverbend district of New Orleans, Louisiana. The church holds one service each Sunday at 5:00pm, best described as "Praise and Worship." The Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans practices open communion at these services - there is no requirement for partaking other than a desire to profess a closer relationship to God.
