New Orleans is an incredible city, replete with a long and interesting history, a diverse culture, and a pervasive willingness among many of its citizens to give love and support wherever it is needed most. Check out the pages linked from this page to learn more about the organizations, charities, and agencies that support both the LGBTQ community and the community at large in the Big Easy.

Local LGBTQ Organizations:
ACLU of Louisiana - The American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana has been operating since 1956, working to fulfill the promises of the Constitution for equal treatment to all Louisianians under the law. The ACLU advises individuals on their rights, investigates instances of discrimination, and offers legal advice.
The Community Coalition - The Community Coalition of Greater New Orleans LGBTQ Organizations and Businesses is an alliance of supporters of the LGBTQ community. The Coalition's website includes an LGBTQ community calendar, a list of gay-friendly businesses, and links to a variety of smaller groups.
Gay New Orleans - Gay New Orleans is a website operated by The Ambush, a local gay newspaper. The site offers information to visitors and residents about LGBTQ-themes events in the city, as well as LGBTQ-friendly accommodations, dining, entertainment, and businesses.
Human Rights Campaign - The New Orleans branch of the HRC.
Lesbian & Gay Community Center of New Orleans - One of the most comprehensive organizations in the city for information and referrals to LGBTQ-related resources, the LGCCNO is located at 2114 Decatur Street in the French Quarter. The Center hosts events and provides information campigns for locals and visitors. Their website appears to be under construction right now, but this link will take you to their Facebook page, which includes all their contact information.
PFLAG New Orleans - For almost 30 years, the Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays organization has operated a thriving chapter in New Orleans, dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons throughout the area. The organization seeks to enlighten the public, support LGBTQ individuals and their families, to end discrimination, and provide opportunities for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity.
HIV/AIDS Prevention and Support:
No-AIDS Task Force - The No-AIDS Task Force seeks to reduce the spread of HIV infection, provide services, advocate empowerment, safeguard the rights and dignity of HIV-affected persosn, and provide for an enlightened public.
Project Lazarus - Founded over 25 years ago, Project Lazarus provides services to people living with AIDS who can no longer live independently, or whose family can no longer take care of them.
LGBTQ Christian Support:
Metropolitan Community Church of Baton Rouge - Our sister church just up the road in Baton Rouge, pastored by Rev. Keith Mozingo.
United Federation of MCC Churches - The website of Big Easy MCC's parent organization, founded by Rev. Troy Perry in 1967.
Sports/Leisure/Entertainment
Gay Pride New Orleans - Provides information about the three largest gay pride events in the Crescent City: Southern Decadence over Labor Day Weekend, Halloween, and Gay Pride weekend in June.
Krewe of Petronius - Founded in 1961, Petronius is one of the oldest gay social organizations in the world. Each year during the Mardi Gras season its members put on an elaborate ball masque that is the talk of the town!
New Orleans Gay Men's Chorus - One of the Crescent City's finest gay traditions, begun in 1982. This group is a founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses, and performs regularly at its festivals.
NOLA Softball League - The NOLA Softball league is affiliated with the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance and the Amateur Softball Association. All are welcome to play. Members must be 18 years of age on or before the first day of the spring season and must live within 225 miles of New Orleans.
