Rev. Rick Sosbe was born in Kokomo, Indiana, where he was raised with his two older sisters.  Rev. Rick says from his earliest childhood recollection he knew he was gay but felt it was something he shouldn't talk about.  He became a Christian at age 10, at which time he felt called of God to become a pastor. 

Rev. Sosbe moved to Florida in 1990 to attend Southeastern University where he received his BA with a major in Church Ministries (Pastoral Concentration) and a minor in Music.  Upon graduation from college Rev. Rick was ordained in the Assemblies of God where he served as Associate Pastor/Minister of Music and then Senior Pastor.

Once coming to terms with his sexuality and realizing that being gay was exactly how he was created by God, Rev. Sosbe left the Assemblies of God and discovered Metropolitan Community Churches.  He remembers his first time attending an MCC and said he felt he had finally "come home."

Soon after finding MCC, Rev. Rick was asked to serve as interim pastor at Rainbow Promise MCC in Lakeland where he began the process of transferring his ordination to Metropolitan Community Churches.  From Lakeland, he became Associate Pastor at Church of the Trinity MCC in Sarasota where he finished the transfer process into MCC under the supervision of Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson.   

During his time in Sarasota Rev. Rick felt called to work with a group of folks who were interested in starting an MCC in Naples, Florida, and became their founding pastor.  Since founding the church in Naples, Rev. Sosbe has led the congregation to obtain the permanent worship space they enjoy today.

Rev. Rick has a deep and abiding love for God and the work of ministry God has called him to do. He shares his life with his wonderful partner, Michael and their Jack Russell Terrier, Zoe.

Rev. Rick and Michael are excited to meet everyone at the Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans and look forward to the journey of partnering with the congregation in growing the church and sharing God's love with the people of this great city.
